PNG FMX - 18 November 2008
PNG- In August 2008 I went overseas to Papua New Guinea to ride FMX at the local Morobe show. I travelled and rode with a good friend Leigh Harriman. This was my first time to PNG and I have to say it was a real eye opener!
Harriman who was on his second visit having rode the same show last year told me a few things about the place we were going on the way over. Things like not being able to walk the streets at night! Or during the day actually well not with out a security guard of some sort!
Morobe is known for hi jacking and theft but as long as you stick to a few simple dos and dont’s like we did there really isn’t too much to worry about. So being in a place where it rains almost every afternoon we had to play a little dodge ball with the weather but we rode 3 shows a day over the 2 days the show ran.
With an estimated 100,000 people come thought the show over the two days it was one of the best crowds that I have ever ridden in front of. The show involved a lot of traditional tribes from different provinces dancing around the arena and all and all was a really good trip.
