Jagshemash!
Well it’s been a couple of weeks since I have posted up some news for you all and ill just start by saying its been a hectic couple of weeks and it’s been hard trying to find the time to tell you what I have been up to.
So ill start from two weeks ago when I left for X Games in Dubai. I was there with ARD and a good team of fellow Australian riders including some of the likes of. Mini, Bowen, Hillier, and Sinclair.
Because X games is ran by ESPN things work a little different than working for other promoters as with X games it is all about TV and things just don’t run like you would expect them to.
Basically you have to be geared up and ready for when they give the word and even though they have a tight schedule things can suddenly change by the minute.
So we spent a little time waiting for cameras cues and doing a few takes to get the money shots so that they have the best stuff for TV, but at least you know when it is broadcast you get the best of the action that goes down on the day.
Plus when you consider the effort that is put into events such as X games and the way the athletes are looked after, doing a couple of takes is the least of you worries.
From the moment we landed in Dubai we were introduced to the team who had loads of cool things planned out the whole week we were there.
A tour around the city was the first thing we did capturing some lifestyle shots and interviews around some of the spectacular sites that are Dubai.
At night we went go cart racing and with everyone split up into teams of 3 for a 1 hour endurance race between all the athletes and sponsors of the event it was a fun night, which I must say we came dam close to winning if it hadn’t been for some cart trouble half way through the race. Never the less it was an awesome nights racing and good times had by all.
The rest of the week was no different with loads of things to do from going to the beach and swimming in front of the Burj ar Arab. The only 7 star hotel in the world, to snow boarding in the desert (indoors) in the worlds biggest indoor snow dome, 4x4 rallying in the sand dunes, belly dancers, and loads of fine foods in fancy restaurants. Is nice!
The whole trip was one of the most exciting trips I have ever been on and the amount of talent within the team of athletes made Dubai X Games a great event to be a part of.
With such a great trip one small down side to the whole thing was a rain day on the Saturday putting most things on hold until the following day. Can you believe that Dubai gets rain once a blue moon and as it turned out we must have timed it to perfection having a record amount of rain for like 2 years or more?
The next day things were back to normal and weather was great and the people of Dubai got to see all the action they had came to see. With the event at a close we celebrated that last night in true X games style and had a few quiet drinks and almost missed my plane home the next day, I think we were the last to board on the final boarding call from sleeping through the alarm I had set as well as a wake up call.
Good times…
Well that’s it till next time.
For now im on my way to Spain for 2 contests so ill do my best to keep you posted and for more pictures from Dubai, check out the photos link of this website.
Take it easy.
