 The freestyle motocross was on the Sunday and the venue was Home Depot. The course wasn’t as technical as some of the ones seen previously but defiantly wasn’t easy on any scale.
Among many dirt hits and kickers set up at different gaps they brought in the ramp Mike Metzger used to do his world record flip off in Las Vegas earlier this yr and set it up at 120ft.
The down ramp was pretty small for a jump that big which made it a little hard to judge and during practice Kenny Bartram came up just a hair short and was taken off to hospital breaking his collar bone and wrist.
During the sat qualifying rounds we seen a lot of riders crash including Nate Adams and Ailo Goupe, injuring themselves and missing out on there spot in the finals.
Maddo missed out on the finals by one position but rode really well.
The final was won by Travis who claimed 3 gold medals over the course of the weekend.
Adam Jones Came in 2nd.
Mike Mason 3rd.
The after party was in Hollywood and was put on by Hart and Huntington and Monster energy drink.
The party was sick and to my surprise there were a lot of fellow ozzys there, some of the likes of Chad Reed, Chayne Boyd along with all our crew from Crusty.
It turned out to be one hell of a party with everyone getting stuck into the free vodka n monster drinks. We didn’t get home till the early hrs of the morning.
The next day was a hard one after drinking so many Monsters I found it hard to get to sleep. So we checked out and headed up to Nate’s house for the day.
Before we left we took a quick trip up to Beverly Hills to see Larry Linkogle and had some lunch with him and his new girlfriend Venus Williams. That’s right the tennis player. I have no idea how these two got together but I turned out she is a fan of FMX that was pretty cool. Respect!
So we finally got up to Nate’s that afternoon to find him up on the roof fixing a drain of all things. Nate is all about keeping busy so I jumped up on the roof to give him a hand while Forman went and got some beers.
This is where I got a chance to catch up with Bilko for the first time away from the parties and all the action and he took me down to the local Tapanyaki in Temecula. Nate, Robbie and all the crew came down and it was good to see them like that after the event and before we headed out to Palm Desert the following day.
