| X Games 12 Best trick. - 10 August 2006 |
 |
I just returned from X Games 12 yesterday and after seeing some of the best riding we are likely to see for a while I thought I better give you my story of how it all went down.
So after injuring my foot and not being able to stick to my original plan of going over to ride the second Dew stop, I changed my ticket to line up with good friend and Crusty rider manager, Chris Foreman to go over and watch X games and support my fellow ozzy riders, Bilko, and Robbie Maddison.
We managed to talk Steve Mini into coming at the last minute, Gary Reid was with us, and we met up with Jimmy Blaze and Jon Guetter when we arrived in LA.
Seeing all these boys together again felt a bit like a Crusty reunion.
We got in on a wed and with not much going on at X we headed down to Huntington to have a look around, had some beers down by the beach and caught up on what everyone had been up to since the last tour.
It was good drinking weather and a good way to relax after the 14 hr flight.
After a few beers we decided to make a night of it so we got cleaned up and headed down to Hollywood to a club called LAX owned by the drummer of Pennywise. The club was pretty cool and we had a good night down there, even ran into a couple of Celebes including, Xibit, and one punch Tyler Evens.
With all that out of the way it was time to see what we had came for and the first event for FMX was the Best trick inside the staples centre.
With 10 of the best riders in the world including Bilko and Maddo who got a run because Kenny Bartram had injured himself, We knew that what we were about to see was going to be pretty bloody spectacular! And it was.
We had Nate Adams throwing Nac 360’s, Matt Reboud doing one hand Nac under flips, Mc Neil had a Seat grab indy, AJ had a Cordova flip, Bilko with his Jack hammer flip and with talk of Travis going for a double flip. As you can imagine things were shaping up to be an eventful night.
I won’t go into to much detail as you guys probably watched the whole thing on TV but at the end of the night the top 3 places were decided.
It was Travis 1st with a perfect double flip.
Reboud 2nd with a nac under flip.
And Bilko in 3rd with his Jack hammer flip and in his second run a heel clicker 360.
It was awesome to see Bilko grab 3rd place and he sure did turn some heads out there that night.
The highlight was the Double flip from Travis. After seeing that is scary to think where the sport will go from here.
